Day 5 & 6 on Lake Superior

Day 5
We pulled up anchor @ 8 am today we are headed for Rossport, Ontario. This will be our first town we visit on Lake Superior this trip. Rossport is located 25 miles north of the Slate islands in the Nipigon Bay Area.
We arrived in Rossport by 11 am. We were hungry so after we were secure at the dock we walked into town to find a place for breakfast/lunch. We found there was only one place in town to eat and no stores. Town consists of approximately 100 people, some of those are summer residences.
We walked around town and chatted with a few of the locals. We found a hiking trail outside of town and made arrangements with one of the locals to give us a ride to the trail head. That way we could hike back to the boat at our own pace. We spent the night here at the town dock in Rossport.
Day 6
Marco showed up at the boat around 10 am we chatted for a bit then headed out for the trail head. He dropped us off at the Rainbow Falls Provincial Park where we started our hike back to Rossport. It started out through a campground and up into the falls area, then as we continued the trail was less traveled and became rugged with beautiful views of Lake Superior. We had to cross a few streams, saw moose scat along with bear scat. No animal sightings today though. We ended up back at the boat with 9 ½ miles of trail behind us. We both had wet feet and were ready to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee on the dock. We relaxed and fixed dinner on the boat for the rest of our evening.
From here we are heading into the Nipigon Bay area to the town of Red Rock. Where we are not sure if there is internet available. From there we will head to Isle Royale and will spend approximately two weeks maybe more there. With no internet and very limited phone. So there maybe no postings for 3 to 4 weeks! We hope you enjoy your summer as much as we are ours. We will be in touch when we can. ENJOY
