Well Good Morning
We are currently in Beaufort, North Carolina. Our plan was to leave at first light, however we woke to a storm blowing through. We had a few wind gusts that blew the kayak's off the top of the boat next to us.
We have been pushing to work our way to the Norfolk, Virginia area where we will leave KA-DEE-ANNA safely moored while we head up to Michigan to meet Riley Ann Allar. For those of you who don't know who Riley Ann is she is our new granddaughter that is due to make her way into the world August 9ish. So she is the reason we are not taking more time to see things on our way north. We are enjoying little bits and pieces of what this coast has to offer and plan to really soak it all in on our journey back south this fall.
We have not passed through any of these area's before so the entire journey is filled with wonder. Hilton Head we biked, Beaufort, S.C we took a Gullah tour that was totally fascinating & very moving. In fact if you have a chance to visit Beaufort, S.C. DO IT call Evelene and ask her to give you the tour. Georgetown, S.C. was a nice old southern town, Myrtle Beach we only spent the night however it was very much like a mini Orlando to us. Wrightsville, N.C. was a quick over night as well. Beaufort, N.C. not to get mixed up with Beaufort, S.C. I think these southern folks like to mess with each other just for fun! The Beaufort in South Carolina pronounces it like it sounds. But them there "northerner's" in Beaufort, North Carolina pronounce their town Bofort. Because we travelled from south to north of course we have to do a double speak just about every time. All in good fun. Bofort is a fun little southern town they are at the southern edge of the outer banks. We hiked one of the little outer islands to view the horses.
I believe we left off in Savannah, Georgia. These are the ports we visited after Savannah: Hilton Head, South Carolina, Beaufort, South Carolina, Charleston, Georgetown, Myrtle Beach, Wrightsville, now Beaufort, North Carolina.........
I have captioned many of the pictures so that you can tell where they were taken. As always we do hope you enjoy the photo's & hope your summer is full of adventures of your own.
Ed & Cindy
