Leaving Charlevoix on our way to Beaver Island

So last night the three of us (Rolo doesn't get a vote) decided we were ready to head out of Charlevoix. We enjoyed biking, zipping around the area in the dingy where we could view the huge homes on the lake, we took the walking tour of historic stone homes, did some shopping & enjoyed the one of the restaurants. We felt we have done everything we came to do. This was our first time visiting the port of Charlevoix we had tried in years past and it being such a popular port they fill up consistently this year however we were in luck.
The Beaver Island Ferry docks in Charlevoix as well. They schedule a 8:30 bridge opening so we chose to follow them out for our crossing as well. We have the same destination (Beaver Island) however they are faster that us. There were two other boats waiting for the 8:30 bridge as well. The morning was misty after a storm came through last night. When we cleared the bridge and reached the end of the break walls the big lake had a blanket of fog over it. Because we entered the area with three other boats we could tell visibility was about 1.5 miles, the Lake was calm to 1 foot we had a four hour run to reach Beaver Island so we decided to press on. After an hour the fog lifted and the winds began to pick up which in turn made the wave conditions build from the calm to 1 footers we began with to 3 to 5's. So a few interior adjustments to keep things from falling on the floor its best to put em there yourself and wedge them so they don't slide. Kadee came out of her stateroom as she said "due to things crashing on my head". She wasn't quite ready to rise just yet so she camped out in the saloon and went back to sleep. We reached Beaver Island at took a slip at the State Marina. I made us lunch and then we all went for a walk around town. The weather cleared up and the wind stopped, figures huh. We went to the Shamrock for dinner its a must stop for a Whitefish dinner, Kadee & I played a couple of games of pool and headed back to the boat. The sun was just setting over the harbor and it made for some beautiful sunset photos. The weather was super calm all night right on into morning so Ed and I untied and shoved off by 6 am headed for Mackinac Island under the Mackinaw Bridge into Lake Huron where I will start off from on our next entry.....We hope your enjoying the journey with us
