It has been quite sometime since our last post. We haven’t boated much in the past few weeks. We had some family fun stuff to catch up on along with a great deal of wind.
We left the boat in Traverse City, Michigan. Where we rented a car and headed south to Toledo, Ohio to visit Ben & Keren.
We had a wonderful time with them. They gave us a tour of their home & made an incredible dinner. It was wonderful and relaxing catching up on all that is going on in their lives.
We left Ben & Keren the following morning and headed for the airport in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Kadee & Rolo’s flight was due in late afternoon. Kadee has been back home for a couple of months, she is on her way north to spend a few days with us before she is off to college.
So we find ourselves living out of a hotel for a few days. YUCK!!! Grand Rapids, MI is the city closest to our old stomping grounds. While Kadee was off doing her thing we caught up with some old friends & visited with family that was in the area.
It is move in day for Kadee : ) it was a warm drizzly day. Her dorm is on the third floor. We were happy to see Calvin had LOTS of help unloading the cars and getting the stuff into the dorm. They were a ton of help. We noticed they had boy’s helping the girl’s move in, and girl’s helping the boy’s move in. Funny what motivates us eh. They were very helpful and we are now left to unpack, organize & build the bed. The beds are modular and the rooms small. So there are many configurations the bed can go into you decide how you want to build your room. Kadee has one roommate, we arrived first so she had first choice of bed and just where she wanted to put it.
Now that we were able to get her all moved in we hit the road and headed back to Traverse City. Rolo is now along for the rest of the journey.
We really enjoy Traverse City along with Grand Traverse bay the area is beautiful and has so much to offer. We ended up spending a few more days here due to Gale force winds that had moved into the area. When we were able to make our way out we made the run to Harbor Springs. We chose Harbor Springs just because we had only been here once for a quick stop. Well to us one day would have been enough but the Gale winds returned so we ended up being here for 4 days. We found that town didn’t have a lot to offer at least for us. They do have a nice bike trail that runs to Charlevoix. We rode that twice, shopped, ate at a few of the restaurants.
We found our weather window and currently are headed north back under the Mackinaw Bridge into Lake Huron then up into the North Channel. We will be enjoying the Canadian area of the North Channel. One of our favorite area’s to boat we have never been up here this time of year and are hoping for spectacular fall colors.
Both cars were loaded to the max
